Come Celebrate!

On Friday 9th of December it was the Kiwi Team celebration. We have been working hard on our bean diaries which record the growth of our plant each week. We have enjoyed writing about the progress that we see and also all the things we need to do to look after our plant. At the celebration we shared some of our diaries and the rest of the class showed how much their bean plant has grown over this term. Here are some of the highlights of our celebration:

EOTC week

We have had such an amazing change in our classroom programme this week. It has been the Kiwi team EOTC week (Education Outside The Classroom). On Wednesday we had the whole school athletics day at Massey Park in Papakura. It was such a great experience for us to get out of the classroom and be 'athletes' for the day! On Thursday we had Dylan Elise come into the school and perform his drumming show. He told us that he had been drumming since he was 6 years old. He encouraged us to follow our dreams and believe that we can achieve anything that we want to achieve. On Friday we had our teddy bears picnic. In the morning we wrote stories about our teddies and why they are so special to us. Then in the afternoon we had a teddy bears picnic. Enjoy some of the photos of our very rewarding week...

Bike Day!

On Tuesday many of the children brought in either a bike or a scooter to participate in the bike day. There were three stations that the children were involved with. Each station was run by someone from Auckland Transport. In the afternoon we decorated our bikes and scooters ready for a school bike parade. There was a special visitor that came as well. See if you can spot him in the photos below!

To Market To Market

On Friday we joined the rest of the school to share in the Kereru teams' market day to raise money for a school in Christchurch. There was food for sale as well as toys, books and lots of fun games. Here are some children in Room 10 enjoying the special morning...

Dance Unit

In Room 10 we have been exploring the curriculum area of Dance. We chose the two different subjects for our dance: The ocean and a storm. We looked at how we can use the space around us to show big movements and by working with our partner the dynamics of our dance can be altered and developed. We invited Room 11 to be our audience and had so much fun sharing our final dance pieces. Here are some photos of our performances:

Swimming trip next week.

Manukau Leisure - Next Week
As part of our EOTC ( Education Outside The Classroom) program
for Term 4 we are going to the Sykes Road Pools. This will give the students the opportunity to gain confidence around water. We require Parent helpers and transport. Unfortunately if you have to bring preschoolers we can’t accept your offer as we require you to be responsible for a group of children.

The huge surprise!

What a treat that was waiting for us on Monday when we came to school! Over the weekend our little bean and pea plants had shot up and are now looking more like fully grown plants. What an exciting writing session we had as we could now use lots of describing words to describe our big Monday surprise.
